There are a lot of good Muslim's in this country and around the world. However, many Muslim's are full of hate and contempt for all of us as they have demonstrated time and time again. Allowing them to do this is a mockery and I cannot believe it's seriously being considered. My sister is a flight attendant for American Airlines. She could have been on one of those planes. It was Muslim men who killed all those innocent people. They trained here and seemed like good people to those who had associations with them. A close friend of mine married a Muslim man who seemed to be the most wonderful person you could ever know. Then one day he had their son at the airport and was getting ready to take him out of the country without my friends knowledge. If it hadn't been for a tip from a friend of theirs, she may have never seen her son again. She never saw it coming. He seemed like one of the good people living among us. My point is, we must profile in order to stay safe. It's unfortunate for the kind and gentle Muslims living among us but many of their own people hate enough to kill innocent people. They would NEVER allow us to build a similar thing on their soil and we should not allow it here.

You do remember that the dem's had control for two years before Obama was elected. And let's not forget Barney Frank and his ties to Fanny and Freddie. The housing mess was really what caused our economic crash and the present administration has escalated the problem with their MANY social programs. I have stated many times that I was unhappy with Bush's second term in general. However, one thing I did love about Bush was how he always came forward to make heartfelt comments every time something bad happened here or in the world. I know a lot of people made fun of him for showing emotion but that was one of the things that made me connect with him. He didn't go through a list of shout outs and other trivial things BEFORE getting to the serious matters at hand the way Obama does. That really bothers me and I see a coldness in him that keeps me disconnected. He should have spoken to the people of Nashville and acted like he was feeling their pain even though he obviously wasn't. This applies to the shooting at Ft Hood, the mine disasters, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc... When he does finally speak he comes across as being flippant and cold and that just reinforces my feelings that he doesn't love this country the way an American president should. In fact, I think sometimes he despises the American way of life and is working hard to change it. A little compassion from him would help but I never see it.
As far as the Patriot act, I don't like it either. However, our entire administration voted for it along with Bush. I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. I think we could do a much better job of staying safe by profiling, but of course, that's politically incorrect. As far as people falling below the poverty line, my husband and I are considered poverty level and I'm not bitter. We decided to live on one income so I could stay home and keep my health problems under control. I could be on disability but I'd rather do without than sponge off of other taxpayers. Many people have fallen below the poverty line because they choose not to work, choose to do drugs, or make other decisions in their lives that keep them down. We are reaching that dangerous tipping point where more people are not working than those who work and pay taxes. I think we'll see how much the lower class loves Obama and our administration when their welfare checks start bouncing. There are very few incumbents today that would get my vote. I am not in love with the republicans or democrats. My allegiance will go to those who fight to stop spending and stop rewarding those who make welfare a way of life. I will support candidates who protect the rights of the American people.
This isn't personal for me. I don't care if bozo the clown was in office. I do not like the direction our country is going. I don't want global government. I don't see how bringing everyone down to the same level is going to make the world a better place. I'm grateful to the filthy rich because they provide the jobs, pay most of the taxes, and keep our economy going. They are not the enemy and soon we will all come to see that.

If it was just earthquakes I might be inclined to think we're just in a different cycle. The other things that are going on are getting my attention. The Amazon type rain that just occurred in Nashville was highly unusual. They are predicting a grim hurricane season and it seems to me that we are having more tornado's in the F-4, F-5 range than what would be considered normal. My sister has been flying for American Airlines and this year has been the first time she's ever been grounded in Europe for volcanic eruptions. And this has happened to her twice this year. One of her friends couldn't get home for over a week. Things do seem unsettled in my opinion.

I'm torn on this one, because again, IF I ever manage to get pregnant...I will only be pregnant once. SO, on one hand I want to know what I'm having so I can go all out of super girly stuff, or super boy-ish stuff. HOWEVER, I also don't wanna know BECAUSE that is the ultimate surprise...all the time, aches, pains, swollen ankles, labor pains, delievery...then PRESTO...the biggest surprise of your life! If you was hoping for a boy, and you have a little girl staring you in the face, you hear5t melts, and suddenly you don't remember you were ever hoping for a boy. I also think if God wanted us to know in advance, we'd have one of those things like turkies have that says they are done cookin, and at 20 weeks, it'd pop out of our belly buttons and tell us the sex of the baby! lol So as I said, I'm completely torn. If I ever do get pregnant, it will be a week to week debate as to whether we find out early or wait. lol

It doesn't matter what ails the state of California. There are several different ways in which they can be helped. They should be helped. And for every single one of you who think they shouldn't you're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites! When they handed out millions of dollars to every single state in the United States Tennessee received their fair share. Now all of a sudden it's not okay to use government funds to bail out California? I have never known a group of people so interested in only helping out themselves. You say you want the best for the nation, but all I ever hear is "me, me, me!" You never complained when Tennessee got approximately $1,690 per person. We received more per person than California for God's sake. They only received approximately $1,635. It just bewilders me that you guys claim to want the best for all Americans, but clearly only those states that see "Red" as you do. Complete hypocrisy. If it had been us (Tennessee) instead you'd be crying and moaning for help.

I cannot believe the naiveté displayed by people. Do you honestly believe I'm worried about nations like Russia or China launching nuclear weapons on the United States? No. I am not. The reason? Because they understand the consequences of such an attack. We would then launch a counter-attack. None of us really have to worry about another country launching their weapons on the United States.

What I am very afraid of are the terrorists. They desire only one thing. To kill as many Americans as possible. They now realize that they cannot kill as many as they would like by flying planes into buildings. The only way to kill as many as possible is with one or several nuclear devices. So long as rogue nations like North Korea have weapons of mass destruction they may eventually end up on the black market or simply go “missing”. Then where will we be? On the wrong end of a 10kt nuclear warhead is where we will be. The only way to prevent this is the complete dismantling of all nuclear warheads by all nations. This is absolutely practical. What is not practical is waiting around for the inevitable. The really sad reality we live in is the one where people believe they are helpless to do what is right. So you settle for the hope that nothing bad happens. Well reality has a way of biting you in the backside before you realize your mistake. Let's hope more people aren't so ready as you to lay down and just take it because it's the easier way to deal with something as important as our own security.

There's nothing abnormal about the frequency of earthquakes or volcanic activity recently. In fact it's just what scientists have expected. The earth goes through cycles as it always has. For now the earth is going through a warming period, or as it is popularly called “global warming”. As icecaps that cover the areas like Iceland’s volcanoes melt it reduces the weight of pressure being placed on the earth. Rock that usually would remain solid is now liquefying and turning into magma. This magma builds up and pressure begins to build to the point that it has no where to go, but up.

As for earthquake activity it has actually been on the decline in recent years. It has actually been estimated by the U.S.G.S. (United States Geological Survey) that the earth experiences about 18 major earthquakes (7.0-7.9), and one great earthquake (8.0 or more) every year.

Perhaps the report by the U.S.G.S. explains it best. The only reason the activity in recent years seems more frequent is because of the advancement in informational technologies. Cell phones, wireless communications, internet, GPS, etc. have all made the ingestion of media information almost instantaneous for us. On April 15th, 1912 the Titanic sank after striking an iceberg. My hometown of Athens, Texas did not report on the sinking until April 23, 1912. That’s 8 days. Over a week. If this had happened now you’d probably have seen the sinking on You tube a couple of times before the wreck ever hit the bottom of the ocean.
