Dr. Seuss

What kind of poetry would you rather read? Stories about a raven or fried green eggs and ham? I prefer the bird myself!

This is hardly fair--Edgar's poetry is a bit overwrought, while "I do not like them, Sam I am" is an admittedly brilliant line. However, no stories insprire more admiration and dread than Poe's and it is the Halloween season so I guess I have to say, "suck it, Seuss!"

Suess is the more brilliant artist. Poe is a really obvious guy, as in, oh, look, see how smart this story is. Real genius sits back and sticks it tongue out at us. Like the story of the story of the Sneeches.

After reading Green Eggs and Ham a million times for three kids and then more for grandkids, I'll take Edgar Allan Poe.

I Loved Dr. Seuss when I was a little girl. I do like Edgar Allen Poe but he is a little too dark for me.
