She is a very courageous young woman but what if she had dies ? then the parents would have to live with that, that they let her do this and now she is gone and yeah we do let them drive at 16 but going around the block or to the store is a little diff from oh I dont know sailing around the world alone...granted I would still worry no matter to this day I still worry about my kids and they are grown the point I guess is yeah the parents should have thought this through and yeah she should have had some one following she was still on the boat alone still would have been the same thing.
At the age of 16 rather you are mature or not (and yes some are more mature than others I realize that) you do not have the mentality or the experience to sail the world by yourself. This is so dangerous. I could see if maybe they had someone following behind her or something but she was completely alone. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing my child was out alone with no one to help quick enough. Yes, when you are 16 you are old enough to drive but lets think about this. You are around tons of people, on the road, and if you needed help it would be there much quicker than if you were in the middle of the ocean. These parents sound crazy to me. It wasn't completely her choice. She still lives under her parents roof and not to mention she is under age.
BTW, I agree completely. Arrogance absolutely gets in the way of teaching anyone anything. I personally am far more receptive to people who talk to me as an equal.
Hey Kim. Great to hear from you. I hope everything is going good for you, Tom, and your baby girl.
We just found out about 10 weeks ago that we will be having our first child. Keep your fingers crossed for a baby girl. Crystal's 14 weeks along and we got to see our baby move around her womb last week. What a miracle that way.
Anyway, great to hear from you and I've been checking in on 7daybuzz weekly to see if there is any new posts. Glad to hear you'll be getting back into it. Talk to you soon.
Hey Ryan, Long time no comment, right?!I've been so busy with our baby girl, but now she's getting older and I can get back to blogging!
So, I would take ignorance over arrogance anytime! I agree with Mama Kaz that sometimes people just don't know any better and if you can help enlighten them, by all means do so! Sometimes arrogance can rub people the wrong way, so if you're arrogant and trying to teach something, the person won't receive it due to them not being able to get past the arrogance. Does that make sense? Anyway good rivalry!
Want to hear this thing in action and learn a little about them?

I must tell you I think aside from certain times these things should be banned.
Okay, after reading this bill I had to change sides. We all need to remember one very important thing in regards to this bill. Driving is NOT a right, it is a privilege.
Saying that I don't see anything in this legislation(I read 3269) that is impeding on a individuals rights. If you want to drive a motor vehicle I don't see any problem with a staged process. It would suck if I was 15 or 16 years old again but the result will be less fatalities and more capable drivers.
I also like that this bill approaches this issue as an option; leaving the ultimate choice with the states (Which is where the choice belongs). If any state doesn't want to abide by the rules outlined in the bill they don't get additional funding. I would have issue with this if it was to strip funding already provided to the state which would be overbearing in my opinion.
Here's the quotes in question and please forgive me if I mis-typed a word or two, I wrote these out as listening the videos.
Barack Obama Quote from Matt Lauer Interview:
"I have not spoken to him directly and here's the reason. Because my experience is when you talk to a guy like a bp ceo, he's going to say all the right things to me. I'm not interested in words I'm interested in action."
Question asked to then Senator Barack Obama:
“...Would you be willing to meet separately without preconditions within the first year of your administration in Washington or anywhere else with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?”
His Response:
“I would and the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them uh which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration is ridiculous. Now Ronald Reagan and democratic presidents like J.F.K constantly spoke to Soviet Union at a time when Ronald Reagan called them an evil empire and the reason is because they understood that we may not trust them and they may pose an extraordinary danger to this country but we have the obligation to find areas where we could potentially move forward and I think that it is a disgrace that we have not spoken to them...”
