I love the smell of a real tree, but I'd prefer to have a fake one, for ecological reasons, and to avoid the mess the real ones make. So I just go to my friend's house and smell her tree! :)

Family is indeed more important than a meaningful career, to me, at least, but if one will not be a good parent while holding down a responsible job with family time, then having a meaningful job will make that person happier with the small amount of time he is with his family. My father did not want to be a 'daddy' so he traveled, and loved his career. When he was forced to be home for an extended period of time, he was intolerable. So, there are two sides to this issue, I guess. Some people are not cut out to be parents, and should be sure not to bring little ones into the world.

I miss the smell of a real Christmas tree but you can't find a good live tree in this area of Tennessee. I don't know why but they just aren't available. I used to get douglas firs because they lasted a long time. Now that I have a fake tree it is nice to put it up around Thanksgiving and not worry about it being a fire hazard by Christmas. I have a really tall one and it looks real and I don't have to water it. I do have to manufacture the pine smell by burning candles all the time so eventually I will probably burn the house down trying to make the safe (fake) tree smell like a real one.

I recently saw an ad that if you can't afford a cell phone the government will provide one. That makes my blood boil. It makes the top of my head explode. If you can't afford a cell phone you don't need one. I've seen people whip out a government EBT card while taking calls or texting on a 500 dollar phone! What??? I have a crappy cell phone because that's all I can afford.

There are people in this country who have been on unemployment for YEARS! If you haven't found a job in years you need to lower your standards. I found great jobs by working for a temp agency. I was offered a job at each temp job I took because I showed up on time and did what I was told. We must cut entitlements. Nobody is going to go to work if they get paid to sit at home and do drugs or watch tv all day. Cut entitlements and cut government corruption. Then and only then will we balance our budget. I agree with Mr Kazinec that if we see corruption we need to report it. These are the people who are taking our country down and we are making it easier to be government dependent every day. The EBT cards are just another example of that. If you're on welfare everyone in line has a right to know because the hard working people who pay taxes are your boss if you're on the government gravy train. They should have more of a say in what you are allowed to buy on food stamps. We must provide incentives to get people to work or soon, the non working will outnumber the working, and all the paychecks will stop. Those who have never had to provide for themselves will then try to take from those who do work.
