I just swam in the ocean today. After fighting the surf to get out its not so bad at all. and fighting the current is a good work out to.

I'll go with the pool because it gives me the "I won this place" feeling and I can swim with no worries in mind. However, an inground pool is not that cheap so I just bought a pool from CheapPoolProducts' http://www.cheappoolproducts.com/Above~Ground~Pool~Decks~Fences_188~supplies.html above ground pools with decks - it's still counted as a pool, right?

I just talked to a guy today who said he swam in the ocean at night. I do get in the ocean during the day but would NEVER consider swimming in it at night. I told him he's crazy!

Well, the lake can be nasty and you don't know what is lerking around. We went to the beach years ago when we lived in Florida and my little brother got stung by a stingray. It got his whole leg and I remember him coming out of the water screaming and we were in the shallowest part of the ocean. Therefore I am a little afraid of the ocean still.

But remember, your little brother is a big cry baby. LOL Not really but I thought I'd say it, in case he ever gets back on here and sees the comment.

I figured most people would choose pool but thought there would be a couple to vote for lake or ocean. I'm surprised.

Totally a pool, it helps when you can see the bottom. Sorry it took me so long to respond MAV.

Don't worry about it. I know you're afraid in the ocean, so I knew what your answer would be but thanks for voting.

Pool!! I have been swimming in the lake before and you just never know what is in there. I am also a germ freak and would prefer a clean pool. We had pools everywhere we lived growing up and they are so much cleaner.

One thing I don't like about the pool is that the chemicals dry my skin out.

I'm too much of a germ freak. Give me a swimming pool full of chemicals any day of the week.

I prefer the freedom of swimming in a pool. I can play and not even think about snakes, sharks, sting rays, jellyfish, etc. Now if I am at the ocean, I don't stay out of the water but my mind thinks about what could be lurking below. Also, the comfort of being in my secluded pool and not having to think about what 100 people on the beach are thinking about how bad my body looks in a bathing suit. :)
