I think this is a lot less far fetched than it was a year ago. My sister called me from California yesterday to tell me the power company has installed a little thermometer gadget on her meter and if she turns her air conditioner on too high the gadget clicks her unit off and resets it to the approved temp. They are peddling it as something to help everyone save on their energy costs. Does anyone really believe that they wouldn't shut down the internet?
As a website owner myself; I am VERY concerned about this. Think of the unchecked power and control the government would have over a multi-trillion(guessing on the number obviously) dollar piece of worldwide economies.
Sir you have successfully struck a nerve with me. If someone hits a "kill switch" on the internet, I'm sure 1,000 *other* "kill switches" will be hit shortly after...
You and me both. I've been loosely following this very issue for a while now and one of the front men is Anthony Wiener, a self proclaimed progressive; which should explain a few things.
Sadly, this is only the beginning.
