So really, it's the fault of the govt. and the businesses (who took advantage of the situation), I just didn't have that choice.

The govt. should have made restrictions but shouldn't have had our money, anyway. A company that can't make it without our money should go out of business and let another business take it's place. Being an entreprenuer is not easy but the govt. isn't helping me when I have money problems at my business. I know the companies we're talking about are multi-million dollar businesses but they got to that level some way. And then appearantly lost or forgot how to run a good business. I'll stop so that I don't run on and on.

There should have been restrictions that's all I have to say that was ridiculous and makes our govt and us look like idiots.

If you're a conspiracy theorist, or some would even say a realist, it's a purposeful manufactured indulgence to bring the economy and public opinion to a state where there is a "DIRE EMERGENCY" as our fearless President has bandied about so much lately.
This, so that any resolution will come quickly, without enough time for clear oversight, and a certain(Socialist) agenda can be put forth as a real solution to the CRISIS.
...I'm not saying these are necessarily my own thoughts, just things I've heard being said... :D

It's too bad that representation is easier said than done. We elect people based on their overall values, usually the lesser of two evils, there's no way to judge specific thought processes and specific periods of time where they might be influenced by colleagues, special interests, or even position.
"The Government" gave the money away with no conditions, that's on them.

I'd suggest a 3rd choice--us. We are accountable. We elected the government and allowed the corporate abuse and now we're going to pay for it. Hopefully, during the process we'll learn a little about delayed gratification and self-discipline.

I'll agree that we elected the government but they allowed the abuse, not us. Forcing this bill through without any contingencies, restrictions, or oversight is on the government not us.

If you put m&m's on the table your kids will get into them. If you give your teenager your atm card and pin # they're going to use it and they won't spend it on groceries. (beer is not groceries) The government should have been smart enough to know irresponsible people are not going to stop being irresponsible just because they get themselves into trouble. Our govt apparently isn't too bright because even after seeing how irresponsible the ceo's and banks were they gave them even more of our money.
