Both sides make messes out of literally every issue, but the Democrats can take more of the blame for this one. So the Democrats can have the housing crisis and the upcoming healthcare bill fiasco, while the Republicans can have shady business dealings / lobbyists making policy and the cause of the financial meltdown.

There. Even. If only this were an academic debate instead of policies that make the citizens have a harder time at life.

'Degreuglation', Mr. Kazinec? Deregulation doesn't play nearly a role in this fiasco as pandering to minorities and lower-income groups. In fact, from my perspective as an employee of Fannie Mae during this whole mess, true deregulation might've made the situation a little less dire. Instead, you have 'tards like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd insisting that homeownership is a right. Every year, they raise our HUD goals. Before the whole housing bust, I believe our target for '09 was 60% of all mortgages we bought had to be "affordable" (read: non-performing bad loans). Does that sound like deregulation to you?

both parties are to blame, but democrats are more to blame. i'm a registered democrat, but a conservative.95% of the democrats have gone too far left. i never vote along party lines.it started in the Clinton era. they loaned money to people, who couldnt pay it back. i never bought my house untill i could make the payments.people have to learn to live within their income,as well our government. i have thought about changing to Independent.

It is the democrats who think everyone has a right to own a home. ACORN propelled loans are the biggest reason for the mess we are in right now. I was taught that home ownership is a privilege, not a right. My husband and I worked very hard to buy our first home we had to do without a lot of things in order to make it happen. Loaning money to those who cannot repay it is a poor business practice, not discrimination.

Well i am forced to pick a side although, i believe that it is both parties that is responsible for our economic collapse. How can anyone blame just the democrats.

Republicans are responsible for deregulation but what you must realize is that the Democrats were the ones (Barny Frank as an example) to push home ownership into low income areas. They actually gave kick backs to banks that issued home loans to high risk borrowers. You can't blame one person, party, or entity for this crisis but to ignore the Democrats involvement is reckless. Of course the idiot borrowers are to blame as well.

I think they are all to blame and we should fire all of them and start over. I would like to nominate Joe the plumber. But let's face it... the democrats are more to blame and there is plenty of hard proof that they are.

C'mon Dennis Everyone is entitled to own a home. Even those who can't afford should be able to purchase homes, it's there God given right so the Democrats and organizations like ACORN say. There are plenty of people to blame but the democrats love catering to low income and this time it bit them and all of us in the ass.

I don't like being tricked into saying "I'm a fan" of Republicans.
