I've been watching this particular congressman for quite a while now. I actually commented on one of his video's on youtube thanking him (A Democrat) for asking Ben Bernanke the tough questions about the mischievous behaviors of the Federal Reserve but that is where my appreciation for Grayson ended. This guy is a lunatic and if he is re-elected it will make a loud statement about his constituents.
I read this this morning:
(This is pertaining to a lawsuit filed against the US government on al-Awlaki's behalf.)
"The idea that courts should have no role whatsoever in determining the criteria by which the executive branch can kill its own citizens is unacceptable in a democracy," the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights said in a statement. "In matters of life and death, no executive should have a blank check."
"The lawsuit would necessarily and improperly inject the courts into decisions of the president and his advisers about how to protect the American people from the threat of armed attacks, including imminent threats, posed by a foreign organization against which the political branches have authorized the use of necessary and appropriate force, said the Justice Department filing."
(He is a very bad guy. Here's some of what he's said)
"Our unsettled account with America includes, at the very least, one million women and children. I'm not even talking about the men," Clapper's declaration quotes al-Awlaki as saying.
I'd love to see this guy die for the actions and comments hes committed but that is not upto the President to decide. When American citizens lose their legal protections where does it end. Whether you trust this president or not, chances are there will be a future president who you wouldn't want with this kind of secretive authority over issuing kill orders on American citizens. We may all agree that this guy deserves to die but what if the next American doesn't? What if the government decides to fabricate reasons to kill an American? I stand by the title of this rivalry; the only change I could have made is the replacement of "Obama" with "Presidents" as that would be less directed at one president and more so on all presidents.
Note: I updated the title to Presidents instead of Obama.
Yet another item to add fuel to the fire of government involvement. I read this today:

Excerpt:
(Atta was the 9/11 mastermind)
"Specifically, the DIA wanted references to a meeting between Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, the book's author, and the executive director of the 9/11 Commission, Philip Zelikow, removed. In that meeting, which took place in Afghanistan, Shaffer alleges the commission was told about "Able Danger" and the identification of Atta before the attacks. No mention of this was made in the final 9/11 report.
Shaffer, who was undercover at the time, said there was "stunned silence" at the meeting after he told the executive director of the commission and others that Atta was identified as early as 2000 by "Able Danger."
"Dr. Philip Zelikow approached me in the corner of the room. 'What you said today is very important. I need you to get in touch with me as soon as you return from your deployment here in Afghanistan'," Shaffer said.
Once back in the U.S., Shaffer says he contacted the commission. Without explanation, the commission was no longer interested. An inspector general report by the Department of Defense concluded there was no evidence to support the claims of Shaffer and others. But Fox News has obtained an unredacted copy of the IG report containing the names of witnesses, who backed up Shaffer's story when contacted for comment."

Thank you for correcting me; I threw my response together after driving ten hours to Florida so I didn't have time to fact check the timeline of power. This doesn't change the point I was making though; in that this kind of power has been attained in very recent history and aside from passing legislation like medicare part D(I think that's the one) in a very dirty midnight fashion and of course going to war; W's agenda and many previous presidents agendas pale in comparison to the change Obama has inflicted.
Your two cents will be evaluated as I've heard it both ways. As I have time I'm going to dive into the actual numbers from multiple sources to see where I stand on FDR's. I've learned quite a bit about him in the past, including visiting the little white house in Warms Springs, GA where he spent time with his mistress and soaked in the natural warm springs but regardless of the findings I will not support the printing and borrowing of money in an attempt to fill in a void of the economy. If the stimulus had actually been about getting people back to work I wouldn't have been as much of a critic of it. (I still wouldn't have liked it as it's burying our children with debt)
You are right as it would have to of had involvement all the way up to the president. I'll agree that Bush on his own couldn't have conceived such an elaborate plan but being realistic it would seem to me that the President of the United States is a bit of a puppet being pushed and pulled from corporate, union, powerful individuals, contributors, etc... So it isn't that far of a stretch to believe the administration (collectively) could have orchestrated this event.
With that said, I do not believe 911 was an inside job but have to admit there is some questionable bits of information. I always asked myself what would the US government benefit from doing this to their own people as I heard 911 truthers converse throughout the last eight or nine years and I always came up emtpy.
However, in the light of President Obama and his administration capitalizing on our economic crisis as the chief of staff is on record stating I couldn't help but ask the following question.
Would the American people allowed the passing of the Patriot Act if we had not been so violently attacked? If we hadn't been faced with such a crisis? Curious on your thoughts.
My point was that the only person to benefit from a planned attack like 9/11 would have been Bush. Can you honestly think of anyone else besides him or Cheney that would have benefited from such an action?
9/11 was not an inside job. I could quote and post videos here supporting this belief all day, but to no avail for those who believe otherwise. I simply know this much. To admit 9/11 was an inside job precludes the idea that anyone or organization other than the government could possibly have pulled this off. If indeed it was the government that could mean only one thing. This could not have been orchestrated by some peon at Norfolk, Langley, or even the Pentagon. It would almost certainly have to include those with the highest of powers. Yes, I mean then President of the United States George W. Bush. With that in mind I can safely and categorically say this. There is no way on God's green Earth that George W. Bush had the intellect, know-how, or strategy to put into place this kind of organized plot to fool the majority of American people.
Ryan I'm afraid you are incorrect. The last time a President had his own party in control of both houses of Congress was during the Bush administration from 2002-2006. In 2006 the republicans lost control of the senate, but later regained it in 2007, and kept it until 2008 when Democrats took the majority of both houses. It's funny that you make the comparison though between Obama and FDR considering that FDR's plans were received as about as well as Obama's. Historical note though. It was FDR's plans and implementation of those plans that brought this country out of the Great Depression and created hundreds of thousands of jobs for starving Americans. Perhaps we can look forward to similar results when we stop being so negative and judgmental about controversial programs that may in fact work. That's my two cents.
By the way Olivia, you are correct. Both Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine both said something similar. I believe Thomas Jefferson's statement was "Those are governed best who are governed least."
As far as I'm concerned, and I admit I don't understand it completely, ObamaCare is simply another way for the government to control our lives. I agree with Benjamin Franklin (or what it Thomas Jefferson?) who said "The least governed is the best governed."
In my opinion, as a woman, if you've got it, AND you flaunt it, you should expect an otherwise gentleman to bite the bait. Why else would you dress so provocatively?
Here is Alan Grayson's attack ad which he is standing by.
Here is the context of Daniel Webster's comment about his wife and the bible.
