Voting it Down was the Right Thing

Rivalry Side A | Business | Economy

Inhumane. People Need Help.

Rivalry Side B | Business | Economy

Republicans with the help of a handful of democrats voted down H.R. 5618 which included extensions for unemployment benefits. Is this right thing to do considering the U.S. 13 + trillion dollars of debt or is this inhumane and heartless?

There are people who have been on unemployment for YEARS! If you can't find a job in a year, you're not looking very hard. And for those who have been on unemployment that long were on it when the economy was booming. I wish more people had a good work ethic. The bottom line is that there is no money to support these programs.

I agree. Jobs are harder to find right now but if you look hard enough and have enough motivation, I am sure you can find one. I see "Now Hiring" signs a lot now.

Its about time! I can't tell you how many times I have heard "Well, I make enough off of unemployment so I can stay home and not worry about getting a job, I need a break anyways". I know what it is like to be laid off because I have been there. I was lucky but very persistent and found a job in one a half weeks. I was not willing to stay unemployed. I know people that I got laid off with about a year and a half ago that are still on unemployment. When is enough, enough?!

its time to repair the economy not cripple it further and make more welfare recipients out of good Americans. reducing taxes ,encouraging job creation in the private sector.... real solutions not welfare state

The House of Representatives just rejected H.R. 5618, a bill that would have extended unemployment insurance benefits. Once again, Republicans voted along party lines and sixteen Democrats voted with them.
