OK, they are both questionable. I chose this side just to be different. Mama Kaz, take the situation with the job and multiply it by 1 million. You got passed over for a job and that was wrong. But what if you had to think about where you went and if you would be accepted. The thought probably comes to mind that there are neighborhoods where a white person wouldn't be accepted, but I would barely be accepted too because that isn't the type of environment I grew up in and it would be evident pretty quickly.

We should judge every person individually. Period.

I was offended by Lowery's comment because it implies that whites are not thinking right. First of all, I don't condemn any one race for what a few do. I judge each person based on their own actions. As a "white American" I have been passed over for jobs I was qualified for because I am white. (they had to hire a less qualified minority.) It's much harder to get scholarships if you're white. It's also harder to get home loan assistance and college loans. Don't even get me started on Christianity. At work I've been told I couldn't hang up Christmas decorations because I might offend someone. Minority's need to realize that discrimination is not limited. We all experience it. Most of us judge people on their actions not their color. There are people of all colors who are prejudiced. I was raised near Wichita, Kansas in the 50's and 60's. I saw restroom signs that said Women, Men, Colored. At 5 years old I understood that was wrong. My parents raised me without prejudice and I'm grateful for that. I became prejudiced as I got older but not against color. We are on uncharted ground with a black president and the smartest thing Obama could do is to grow a thick skin (like Sarah Palin) and stop whining about talk show hosts who don't like him for whatever reason. If Bush had whined like Obama and his supporters it would have made me just as sick as it does to hear what's going on today. We are still a free country and as long as we are, people like Rush and Lowery have every right to speak their minds. I've been offended by a lot of people but I put on my big girl panties and get over it. Life's too short to do otherwise.

For those of you who don't know what the issue at hand is, here it is. During an interview with Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh made the following comment,"You know, racism in this country is the exclusive problems of the left. We're witnessing racism all this week that led up to the inauguration. We are being told that we have to hope he succeeds; that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever; because his father was black, because this is the first black president. We've got to accept this. The racism that everybody thinks exists on our side of the aisle has been on full display throughout their primary campaign. So I think they've done a great job, the media has, of covering up his deficiencies. He's too big to fail, and so whatever goes wrong, blame it on Bush, blame it on... I mean, MSNBC's new life will be criticizing you and me, because they can't criticize him."

The contoversial comments made by Dr. Joseph,"We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man and white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say amen."

I'm going to lay some ground rules for this rivalry. I started this rivalry after discussing this topic on a blog I regularly visit.

First, if you can't be respectful and responsible with your comments don't leave them. Opinions are always welcomed but outright racism will not be tolerated. Any inappropriate comments will be removed.
