It would be nice if we could respond to each comment as well. Not just the first in the thread.

I'm not completely ruling it out but this type of modification would require many hours of development and I'm still not convinced it won't just add confusion. I'm currently working on Facebook login integration but will take some time off from that to look at the distinguishing the side of comment replys.

How about the usernames highlighted in the color of the side the support? Might make it easier to pick out in the threads. Just thinking out loud...

Oops, missed the "y" in they. Should read "side they support".

I'm assuming you're referring to comment replies? Would that be an accurate assumption? That could be easily done; I'll do some testing and see how it looks. I have a couple of ideas in addition to that as well.

Yep, comment replies. I think it would better identify which side the person commenting in the thread is on.

Opinion on the new comment reply labels? Thanks! As always feedback is appreciated and taken seriously. Of course you'll need to navigate to another rivalry to really see it action. The Romney vs Santorum one will do the trick.

Yeppers, that will work.

Good job there. Better than I had envisioned.

I looked at highlighting the user but it didn't look right no matter how I did it. Great suggestion though, I really like being able to see which side the each user is on.

A couple of other changes have been added. You will notice when you are logged the comments will now only show excepts of comments when they are larger than x amount of characters. Don't fret you can view the whole comment by clicking on the "Read More" link. This should make discussions easier to follow and less cluttered.

This particular change will not affect the appearance of the rivalry comments when you are not logged in.I still have to do some further research to see how Google views hidden text before I consider adding it for non-logged in users.

As always, feedback is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ryan Kazinec

I have implemented a couple of changes already with more in the works. The order of which comments are displayed has been changed. There is also a "Add a Comment" link on the top right of the rivalry comments that sends you directly to the comment box.

I have to say it would probably make for a more intersting and navigable interaction if the most recent comments were listed first. Don't get me wrong, the current layout works for me, but I do like to see the more recent comments displayed simply because it would be more convenient. Not to mention the commenter is more likely to return to continue the debate.

Thank you for the feedback Rick! If opinions go the way I think they will I will likely be working on this very soon.

My input: I don't know why it hasn't crossed my mind before but it would in my opinion make sense to at a bear minimum change the direction comments are displayed. Instead of oldest to newest | Newest to Oldest. Just about every other website I know of does it this way and in doing so places the most recent and likely most relevant content in front the users.

With that change a drop down Add a Comment box would be appropriate at the top of the comments section to make adding new comments more convenient.

Everyone please consider this rivalry to be a completely open discussion on the rivalry comments layout. If you like the way things are right now, would like to see changes, or just have a suggestion please lace this rivalry with all of the above.

I spend a lot of time developing features for JealousBrother.com and want to make sure I take it in a direction our users would support. Thank you all for supporting our website and I look forward to any and all feedback.

Sincerely,
Ryan Kazinec
