Rivalry Side B | Science | Environment

Amidst the worst ecological disaster we’ve ever seen in the US President Obama decided against waiving the Jones Act which in turn kept the US from getting foreign assistance offered by Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian Firms. Right Choice?

Obama's ignorant decision has caused billions of dollars in monetary loss to those folks trying to make a living along the Gulf coast, not to mention the deplorable loss of wildlife which cannot be counted in dollars and cents.

I think they don't want to clean up the oil spill. Rahm Emmanuel (White House chief of staff) always says, "never let a good crisis go to waste".... We have some huge tanker that can suck up more oil in a day than they have since this thing started but as of last week it was still sitting in a dock in Virginia. Why?????

"Crucial offers to help clean up BP’s oil spill came “from Belgian, Dutch, and Norwegian firms that . . . possess some of the world’s most advanced oil skimming ships.” But the Obama administration didn’t accept their help, because doing so would require it to do something past presidents have routinely done: waive rules imposed by the Jones Act, a law backed by unions."
