I'm not for government healthcare because I know how much it sucks. But, the most underhanded thing ever? Do people realize thousands of young men and women have died fighting a war for.....? I would like to think that is a little worse than this.
I forgot to make my main point. Forcing everyone to pay for insurance is just their way of pushing through government health care. They are counting on the fact that many people who choose not to buy health care now will gladly jump on the free government health care bandwagon instead of paying for insurance or paying the stiff fines. This is the most underhanded thing I've seen the govt do yet. This is just a step they are taking toward govt healthcare. Our rights are being trampled by those we elect to uphold the constitution. What will be next?
After working in the medical field for 20 years I have a clear understanding of what government healthcare means. Physicians can only afford to take medicare and other govt health plans now because the private insurance patients and cash pay patients bring in enough money to make their job worthwhile. Look at the reimbursement rates for government care and that will tell you the quality of doctors we will have. Even if they leave the private option in the insurance companies will be quickly driven out of business for 3 reasons. 1. They will NOT be able to compete with "free" govt healthcare. 2. A lot of people who pay for healthcare now will choose not to buy insurance in lieu of vacations and other luxuries knowing they can get it for free. 3. Many companies who provide healthcare to their employees will run to the govt option because it will save them a lot of money. There will be no choice and we will all be forced to endure inferior health care from inferior providers. The good doctors will not work for pennies on the dollar. I don't think a lot of people realize how long and hard the days are for physicians. Most of them really care about their patients but will draw the line at making the same amount of money as a garbage collector or janitor. I've seen the reimbursement rate for doctors on government health care and it is pennies on the dollar. Would you perform an appendectomy for less than 50 dollars? I wouldn't. We also have to ask how we are going to pay for this "FREE" health care. When they finish taxing us for this we could have all paid for the best private insurance out there. It's going to cost US a fortune.
