Kissing Children on the Lips Is Okay

The Lips are for Intimacy. Cheek Only

I heard an interesting discussion on the Hallerin Hilton Hill show here in Knoxville; is it okay for parents or family to kiss children on the lips? Or is that too intimate and inappropriate. Also consider; is it okay to bathe with babies?

I don't think just anybody should kiss a child on the lips, but I think close family is ok (parents, grandparents, siblings - even if they are adults, CLOSE aunts/Uncles/etc). I was taught who was ok to let kiss me on the lips and who wasn't when I was very young.

I think its perfectly fine to kiss "small children" on the lips. I will kiss my baby girl on the lips. I always kissed my nieces on the lips but as they got older they started kissing me on the cheek.

I agree with Juju about the binky. I say run it under water because sticking it in your mouth is not a good way to sanitize it. It would get cleaner if you wiped it on your shirt!

I think most family members kiss babies on their cute little mouths but as they get older most people stop doing that and just kiss on cheeks. I never really noticed people outside my family ever kissing my kids on their mouths. I just watched my newest grandbaby in a 4D ultrasound yesterday and I already want to kiss her cute little mouth and cheeks. She's so cute!

Is it ok to clean the binky off by sticking it in mom or dads mouth? That in my book is sick!
I think a dogs mouth is cleaner..not that I would do that either...

Although I know people kiss babies on the lips to show affection, I prefer to kiss them on their cheeks and I guess it's just my preference. That's the way I was raised. Kissing on the lips, also, does spread germs, and that's a good enough reason to avoid the lips.

I kiss my baby boy on his little lips. That is how we teach our children to kiss. My girls (9 and 12) mostly kiss me on the cheek, but that is something that has changed as they get older. If they kiss me on the lips I think nothing of it. I just think it is what the child is comfortable with. I am only comfortable with certain people in our lives kissing my kids period. My girls will let me or anyone else know if something makes them uncomfortable. That is how i have raised them. As for bathing with babies. I think it is fine to bathe with a "baby" when they are a baby. There is an age where i think it becomes inappropriate. That age is different deppending on the child. I rarely bathed with any of my kids. It was a bit of a pain in my opinion.

I think it is fine for mom, dad, grandpa, grandma aunties...But I don't think strangers should kiss babies unless parents have given the ok...Your going to get germs spreading no matter what.. Just use your head about it like washing hands before you touch the new ones...... They need to build up immunity anyway..
