Love your picture with the tv for this rivalry, Ryan!

We are spending less on clothes and entertainment but still go out to eat too often. That would change if we both didn't work almost 70 hours a week. Then we'd have more time to cook and feel like doing it because we'd be home more.

We definitely spend less in 2009 than we did prior to Oct. 2008. And even with spending less, feel like we struggle, struggle, struggle.

Unless your job or home situation has changed..spending is the way to help the this recession end...

To spend money to help end the recession, you have to have money. Many, many people are having a hard time buying essentials, so shopping isn't a choice for them.

I still buy some things name brand (and splurge here and there) but for the most part I am not buying new clothes everytime I get together with the family. Even thought seems that they are? lol. It is a sad sad world when a Target employee is shopping at the evil empire. I'm sure not to wear red when I go in there though.

Well said Aug! I attended a tea party yesterday and came away knowing that us average middle class joe's are suffering right now. There are a lot of us (making way less than 250,ooo a year) living in reality. Our government is printing counterfeit money and calling it a stimulus package and it's not helping. It's hurting all of us including those who aren't even born yet.

its ok, money will blossem from trees and rain from the sky with Obama on our side, he will pay for our homes, and pay off our debt and release all of peoples resonsabilities and accountability. We will end up mindless consumers sucking off American taxpayers tits, so pay your taxes so i can get a home a can't afford, more food than i need, cable and a big screen tv! money is free...yaaaaaa

We have definitely changed our spending habits. We used to eat out at least two or three times a week and no longer do that. Every time we buy groceries we're getting less and it's costing us more. We have stopped using credit cards because the interest rates are skyrocketing and I just heard that NOT using them is going to cause declines in credit scores. We're trying to reduce our energy use before the new energy taxes take effect. We will be looking for more ways to make ends meet everyday.

If I'm being honest I have turned into "El Cheapo". Something about losing jobs and having hours cut doesn't give me that warm and fuzzy feeling.

I changed my spending habits when I got laid off. It hits you really hard when you are sitting at home applying for unemployment and wondering what you are going to do next. It's not fun. I cut up my credit cards and shredded them. I will not touch them again. We have also cut back on other things and although I got a job we are not spending how we used to.
