Now that the Dark Knight saga is over and Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece is complete who was the better nemesis to Batman? Was it Heath Ledger as the Joker in Dark Knight or Tom Hardy as Bane in the Dark Knight Rises?

I was torn on this one because Ledger was awesome as The Joker and set the bar very high for Batman Baddies but Hardy was to me just way to close to the mark for me to decided.

First of all let me say that Tom Hardy was outstanding as Bane, but I have to agree with the rest of you. No one will ever portray the Joker quite like Heath Ledger. I absolutely abhored what they did with Bane's character in the previous Batman & Robin. I was totally disgusted with it and Schumacher's Batman Forever. In Batman & Robin the character of Bane was wittled down to nothing more than some mindless ogre that was laughable at best. It took the brilliant mind of Christopher Nolan and the acting prowess of Tom Hardy to finally restore Bane to his true vicious and cunning villiany. I was very impressed to say the least by his performance and the movie overall. It was a fitting end to an already accomplished series. Besides the original Star Wars and Lord of the Rings this is without doubt in my top 3 best trilogies ever made. No one will ever top Ledger's performance as the Joker. No one will ever top Hardy's performance as Bane. A better Batman trilogy will never be made.

It's been so long since I've seen the previous films and did not know that about Bane. I did find it odd that no other batman actor has played in more than two films. I drew that conclusion for the wikipedia page on Batman.

My finger accidentally hit the down vote on Rick's remark but I meant to it the UP vote! Sorry, Rick!

I'll fix it after work. Also, I will be changing the comment rating icons to make it nearly impossible to make a mistake. This happens quite a bit due to how small the icons are.

That's all right DollyFan. It feels weird to call you that. I'm just gonna say Brett. Don't worry about it. I've done it before myself.

Tom Hardy did well in playing Bane but I am not sure there will ever be a better performance of a villain than Heath Ledger's The Joker. I can't really explain how his acting was brilliance for that character. And really do much better than Jack Nicholson's version.

As an actor heath ledger takes the cake for me. I really loved how he portrayed the joker. Tom Hardy did a great job though.

I think both did a great job but I dont think anyone can beat Heath Ledger. He did an amazing job in the last Batman!

Let me start by saying Tom Hardy had some serious shoes to fill considering the last Dark Knight and Heath Ledger and he came VERY close but I still think Heath wins out as the joker. Not by much and I was amazed to discover who actually played Bane in the film. Both movies are fantastic and I have a small glimmer of hope (Christopher Nolan and company) they will come back with another offering; while I'm guessing I'm wrong.
