And how many people recycle their cans, plastic bottles, newspapers and magazines, etc.? It's not that hard or time consuming but so many people still just throw it all away to go to the landfill. What a waste for our land. Most Americans take too many thinbgs for granted and are too lazy to do anything to help prevent or fix problems.

I watched a special on the history channel about all of this and although I don't think the world will end on that date, I do think something profound could happen. My reason for this is that it isn't just the Mayan calender that comes around to that date, it's actually a number of different things that predict something. Very interesting stuff...

If I print up 2000 years of calendars and someone finds them in about 1500 years or so, does that mean the world ends on Dec. 31, 4009? Nope. Same thing here.

Wasn't there some mention of a rebirth of some kind I'm not totally sure. I think the Mayan calendar resets that day also. Hard for me to think the Mayans could predict the end of the world.
