Can’t Risk Job. It’s Acceptable

Rivalry Side B | Other | Living

I recently got sick while working around a guy that came to work with an obvious cold and didn’t bother covering his mouth when coughing. Is this acceptable because people can’t risk calling in sick or is this unnecessary and rude?

In today's world most people feel they have no choice but to work while they are sick. I would just ask that they be diligent in germ control. If you are coughing wash your hands often and cover your mouth. It's too bad that employers make people feel they can't call in sick but it's probably because of the abuse of sick days. People are stupid enough to post pictures of themselves partying and playing on Facebook while they are supposed to be at work. No wonder employers don't believe everyone who says they are sick....

I agree you both know where I work and they dont think twice to fire you so its better to come in sick let them see that your sick and them send you home.Even though that dont stop them from giving you a point for being sick.

Actually most employers wont even let you go home. Not in my experience anyway. I have never been asked to go home, not that I can think of.

This one is very hard because I have always went to work sick because I've always been the boss and its very hard for us to miss work. Until I get high fevers or where I cannot function at work then I'm there. I don't however cough on anyone. I am very respectful and try to stay away from everyone. I also use lysol, wipes, etc. to keep everyone else from getting sick.

I was very close to taking the other side when I realized I would have been a total hypocrite seeing how I work through just about any illness but I at least have the damn courtesy to cover my mouth when sneezing and to wash my hands after sneezing not to spread germs to others.

Wash your hands and cover your damn mouth please.
