I love the optical mouse. You can even shine it on the wall and entertain your cat.

You are right, no brainer. The closer match would be between optical and laser. I hated those damn mice that had to be constantly cleaned.

Optical is sweet I use to hate having to clean the ball in the roller mouse...which seemed like all the time.
