Mr. Kazinec - 1/10/09 @ 4:51 PM:
I've been with directv for several years now and have been pretty happy with them. However, when you lose a job and you have analyze whats better for the money I have to give it to Dish Network. They offer an all hd package for under $30. Unfortunately I may have to cancel DirecTV soon, I can't justify the $90 when we're operating on a single income.

+0 Haralambos - 1/13/09 @ 4:13 PM: I had Dish and chose a package that most people know nothing about - the family package. This is geared to family programming and saves me $$ - if I recall it costs about $19/mo. I do not get the history channel but get the science channel. No CNN but FoxNews.

This is not something advertised but I think that neither Direct TV nor any cable plan has programming that low in cost.
+0 Mr. Kazinec - 1/13/09 @ 4:16 PM: That's precisely what has me leaning towards Dish Network. I'm glad to hear your happy with their service, it will make my decision a lot easier. Thanks

Not a fan of the dish. On that note, I think all cable companies are greedy SOBs

+0 Mr. Kazinec - 1/10/09 @ 7:53 PM: Cable companies are indeed greedy a-holes. On top of that our local cable company offers like ten hd channels compared to the nearly 100 hundred of dish and directv.

Well my dad has DirecTV and we have Dish I like Dish better than DirecTV my only complaint with dish and we havent had the problem in awhile it would be a clear day and it would just blink off and would stay off like 5 to 10 mins and would come back on and then a few mins later blink off again but since we've moved we dont have that problem. My dads only blinks off when it rains but no DVR hehe I love the DVR.

We used to have dish and it seemed to be out more than it was working. It always seemed to go out during big games, especially championships. I had them on speed dial... Direct TV has been great. It only goes out during severe storms and always comes right back up when the storm passes.

I'm going to give DirectTV the nod, but DVR is the key. Every company that delivers television to our homes is greedy.
Side B Comment
+0 Mr. Kazinec - 1/12/09 @ 2:28 PM: The DVR is quite possibly the best invention in the last 100 years.

I love my DirecTV but I am starting to see that it is a luxury. I can deal with watching basic channels and my movies. I don't watch much tv as it is.

I've had both. Started with Dish, then changed to Direct. Both have similar packages, similar prices. The thing about both, being satelite, when a storm brewed up and came along, the signal cannot get thru .. Therefore it went completely off until the storm was over. As of this summer,I am now on ATT fiber optic. Weather does not interfere.
