Bible is Still a Credible Source

Bible Has Lost it's Credibility

Rivalry Side B | Other | Religion

In the not so distant past the bible used to be the ultimate source; if it was in the bible it was fact. Does the bible still have that kind of credibility or has the image of Christianity been tarnished to where the Bible is irrelevant?

I think that after all the years of people interpurting it in any way they wanted or in a way that would best suit them it kind of lost a lot. and most people dont even acknowledge the fact jesus isnt the light skinned blue eyed figure that is shown all over the place. i think faith isnt supposed to be in the book it self but the over all message that its supposed to send.

If you have no faith what do you really have?

Spiritualism comes from within. Religion is preached to you from a pulpit.....it is a business, plain and simple. I agree with Dennis wholeheartedly. He spoke my feelings better than I could have done it myself. Jesus even said it himself: The kingdom of heaven is within.

Honesty, humility, integrity, morals, values, respect for yourself and others - these are the things which make up a solid foundation and have no religious association requirement attached.

Religion is the result (in my opinion) of human's inability to accept death. It transforms that fear into a digestible form. All you have to do is turn a blind eye to reason, logic, common sense, etc. I mean if everyone is doing it then it must be ok right? It also just so happens that it makes a great control structure for the rulers of cultures who believe in it.

An argument against religion is an argument FOR reasonable, logical, and critical thinking.

Mama Kaz was talking about the Bible and you are talking about religion - two very different things. The bible will guide you towards what is right while religion will have someone in a nice suit asking for your money. Religion involves many who have made a career choice instead of a calling.

The bible hasn't changed. It has stood the test of time. People have changed. As a country and as a people we have moved away from the teachings of the bible. Christian faith and principles are being pushed out of everyday life while other religions are being allowed and even encouraged to spring up everywhere. It's no wonder so many children today are clueless as to who Jesus is and many don't even know what the bible is. It's no surprise to me that our country is in such a mess because they have been removing our foundation, one brick at a time, for years. We cannot survive without a solid foundation and whether you are a believer or not I think most people can recognize that faith is a good foundation for most. I have always wondered, what harm does it do to those who don't believe and why are they so bent on destroying it?

It really pains me to take this side. Being brought up a Christian, 8 years of private Christian school; I truly wish it wasn't the case.

While I'm far from what I would consider a devout Christian now I do share the same values of the religion and think it is a wonderful foundation for children.

I don't think it's too late for the bible to regain it's credibility but I don't think it's likely with the direction society has taken, the ACLU, and other organizations and groups that continue to demonize Christianity. Maybe it's time for Christianity to go on the offensive against those who'd like nothing more than to destroy it.

I don't think the bible is irrelevant and i still think its the best source for healing.I do agree that somewhere Christianity has taken a backseat and has been tarnished due to some so called "Ministers" who took it and turned it into a sideshow and the only way to get into Heaven is to "Pay" your way in not with the blood but the almighty dollar, just my thoughts on it.
