Paragraph With Subject Verb Agreement

Regular verbs follow a predictable pattern. For example, in the singular of the third person, regular verbs always end in -s. Other forms of regular verbs do not stop in -s. Study the following forms of ordinary verbs in the contemporary form. Since subjects and verbs are either singular or plural, the subject of a sentence and the verb of a sentence must correspond in the number. That is, a singular subject belongs to a singular form of verb, and a plural subject belongs to a plural form. For more information on topics and verbs, see section 2.1 “Sentence Letter.” You may come across sentences in which the subject comes according to the verb rather than in front of the verb. In other words, the object of the sentence may not appear where you expect it to be. To ensure a correct match between the subject and the subject, you need to correctly identify the subject and the verb. Correct errors in the subject verb agreement in the next paragraph.

Copy the paragraph on a notebook paper and make corrections. Study the different forms of being the verb in contemporary form. In these sentences, the verb remains the singular and the first plural for the first person. Many topics can be pluralized by adding a -s. After you finish the exercises, compare your answers. If you have difficulty identifying the subject and the verb in sentences that start here or there; it can help reverse the order of the sentence so that the subject comes first. Subjects composed in association with and remaining are treated separately. The verb must correspond to the subject closest to the verb. If you have trouble finding the subject and the verb in the questions, try answering the question. However, note that exceptions occur. Some indeterminate pronouns may require a pluralistic form. To determine whether a singular or plural verb should be used with an indeterminate pronoun, consider the name to which the pronoun would refer. If the noun is plural, use a plural verb with the indeterminate pronoun. Look at the diagram to see a list of indefinite general pronouns and the forms of verbs with which they agree. The indeterminate pronoun all adopts a plural form, since all refer to the plural-substantial people. Because people are plural, everything is plural.
